Voices of Heritage is a 12-month project co-financed by the Emilia-Romagna Region. It promotes participatory approaches to identifying and valuing cultural heritage, with a special focus on empowering young generations. Partners

Municipality of Cavriago (Italy), Municipality of Mjölby (Sweden), and Fronsadais Community of Communes (France) with the support of Sweden Emilia Romagna Network (SERN).

Project objectives

The general objective of the project is to promote the participatory enhancement of cultural heritage to build an open and resilient society, aligned with the 2030 Agenda.

Actively involve citizens, focusing on young generations, in identifying and promoting heritage

Encourage international cooperation to develop innovative, sustainable policies for cultural heritage.

Activities

October 2024: Project Launch Webinar

Introduction to the project’s goals and connections to the Faro and Landscape Conventions.

December 2024: Online Training

Workshops on community engagement methods and using the digital platform for heritage collection.

January–May 2025: Heritage Contributions Collection

Citizens identify tangible and intangible heritage through:

  • Digital Engagement: Submit contributions via an interactive platform.
  • Youth Involvement: School and youth center activities.
  • Local Workshops: Awareness-raising events.

June 2025: Seminar in Cavriago

Collaborative analysis of contributions to develop local and transnational strategies.

Interactive Platform

How It Works:

  • Citizens submit heritage elements (stories, photos, videos) via a digital form.
  • Submissions populate an interactive map, showcasing heritage geographically.
  • Contributions can include tangible elements (buildings, artifacts) and intangible ones (traditions, memories).

Expected Results

Increased Youth Engagement:

  • Young generations actively participate in heritage promotion, gaining cultural awareness and digital skills.

Enhanced International Collaboration:

  • Exchange of experiences and practices among Italian, Swedish, and French communities.

Innovative Policies:

  • Creation of sustainable cultural policies through collaborative analyses.
